You lie back, breathe, and the system does the rest. IHHT brings high-altitude air into a calm session, and at the end you take home a report on how your body responded.

IHHT and altitude: couple walking a mountain trail above a sea of clouds
Mountain air: the idea behind IHHT.

The idea comes from altitude. At altitude, lower air pressure means every breath carries less oxygen, which is why mountain settings are so popular with endurance athletes. IHHT recreates that low-oxygen air in a controlled setting, no mountain required, and adds recovery periods of enriched air between the low-oxygen phases.

The name stands for intermittent hypoxic-hyperoxic training, and in practice it is far simpler than it sounds.

30–45 minper session, lying back
9%oxygen at the lowest setting, like about 6,500 m
34%oxygen in the enriched-air phases

A break you can measure

You settle into a reclining chair with a mask and a fingertip sensor, and the system alternates, three to six times, a few minutes of low-oxygen air with a few minutes of enriched air. On a system like hypoxbreath®, the lowest setting is 9% oxygen, equivalent to about 6,500 m of altitude, and the highest reaches 34%.

No effort required. You can read, listen to music, do a little work or simply switch off. It’s a quiet pause in the middle of the day.

And at the end you take home something concrete: a session report. The system tracks your oxygen saturation and heart rate variability throughout, and can adjust the oxygen in real time to keep you in your zone. So you can compare a calm day with a busy one and see how you adapt.

A real hypoxbreath® session report: oxygen, saturation, heart rate and HRV.

Why more and more people are trying it

Because it combines two things that rarely go together: rest and data. No effort, nothing to learn, and you still walk out with information about yourself. It suits:

  • Endurance athletes. A comfortable way to see how their body responds to lower-oxygen air.
  • Professionals with a full calendar. It fits into a lunch break.
  • People who already look after their wellbeing. Sleep, recovery, stress management: IHHT joins that routine as one more element.
  • Curious people who like data. If you enjoy seeing how your body responds, the report is half the appeal.

You set the pace

Every session adapts to you. The sensor tracks your oxygen saturation from start to finish, the system can adjust the level in real time, and an independent dual safety system makes sure neither saturation nor oxygen leaves the set range. You can stop whenever you like.

In short

IHHT is altitude without the mountain: a quiet break that ends with your own data. In Singapore it comes with hypoxbreath®, a German system with multi-level phase control, integrated HRV monitoring and real-time biofeedback. Smartcity Projects is its official distributor; discover the system on the hypoxbreath® page.
